Robert brings more than 17 years of experience in wealth planning and investment management to his role as Portfolio Manager and Principal Investment Analyst.
As a Portfolio Manager, he works closely with clients to understand their investment goals, cash flow needs, and risk tolerance to tailor an investment portfolio to meet their financial planning goals. Robert has a passion for client service and is always happy to discuss economic and investment conditions in greater detail to drive sound investment decisions. Robert also leads the alternative investments platform, which includes selecting investment managers that specialize in real estate, private credit, and private equity with the goal of delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns.
Prior to joining First American Trust, Robert directed the underwriting investment processes and allocated capital in both public and private investments in real estate, private credit, and private equity. He also led a portfolio management group where he collaborated with team members in monitoring portfolios for adherence to target allocations, client objectives, and product strategy.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) Charterholder and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®). He received his master’s degree in finance from Northeastern University and his bachelor’s degree from University of California Los Angeles.
Robert serves as a board member for the UCLA Alumni Network of San Diego as Treasurer, and he founded the Lopez Family Scholarship Fund that provides scholarships to Latino/a students who are pursuing undergraduate and graduate business degrees.
Robert lives in Temecula with his family and enjoys traveling and playing the guitar.
